Gemi is A-Okay

Cyber-Paw pals, a super fast relay team of sparrows brought us this Greyhound Express Note from Minnesota. The note is from Gomer, Opie & Floyd.

"Gemi is doing well and getting plenty of loving attention from her hoomans. She went into surgery around 2:40 PM and at 7:00 PM started waking up from the surgery. She lost 14 abscessed teeth (all 12 incisors and her two upper canine teeth) and had more than 50% bone loss. Gemi has 19 teeth left. In about 30 days Gemi mouth will heal enough from the surgery that she will be able to eat crunchy treats and food. All things point to an outstanding success story."

You can read about the saga of helping Gemi and get current information on her status by clicking on the following two links: 1) Gemi links at DogsAyeView and 2) Gemi link at IMOM (go to page 4 to read the DogsAyeView on the scene vet report.) We are wondering about that total of 33 teeth. We know that sometimes those little birdies can be a bit flighty when passing information. The important thing is Gemi is okay and doing fine.

Dog Speed,

Essex & Deacon

Yup... Gemi had a total of 33 teeth that grew and developed in her tiny little mouth, instead of 42 like most of us canine folk. Sometimes the doggie gods know what they're doing with genetics and don't make everything grow if it will cause more problems later.

Dogmom is on her way into work at Pet Crossing today... so she'll have more information about Gemi tonight when she gets home.

Wuf Ya!
