Happy Trails To You

Well, cyber-paw pals our good paw pal Red will be leaving us to go North. We will miss Red and his Dad, Joel Walton CPTD. We talked about them a lot back in January when they helped us watch the house, when Dad had to fly to Baltimore. We will miss Joel giving advice on how to communicate with your dog better, hoomans call it training. Heck he even wrote to books.
Red, the Wonder Dog

Then in a little less than two weeks Jack and Bear will be leaving Key West to go live in Virginia. We will miss the crazy antics of that pair. We were hoping to celebrate Bear's first Barkday on 5 May. It is always sad when somebody leaves the Angel Park Dog Park Pack.

While we watched Red leave, we could hear Dad humming the theme song from an old Black & White TV show called Roy Rogers. The song was "Happy Trails to You." For all you dog trivia buffs, here is your question. Roy Rogers' horse was named Trigger. What was the name of Roy's dog? Bonus: name the breed.

Happy Trails to You, until we meet again.

Belly Wind

A dog just sometimes needs to enjoy the wind on his belly. Deacon is just laying on his back, awake, enjoying the ceiling fan. Dad chuckled when he saw Deacon, because it looks so bizarre. We wonder if any other dogs do things like this.

The news at Angel Paws is that Red will be leaving to head up to Maryland on April first. Bear and Jack will be leaving with their pawrents to Virginia a week later. We will miss them all.

In the White

Essex got her teeth cleaned yesterday. They had a lot of nasty tartar and looked brown. The anesthesia took its toll and she wasn't up for the dog park. The teeth are white and her breath is puppy fresh.

Before

After
If you get a chance today (19 November), go wish Tosca a Happy Barkday. You may remember that Tosca was the Doggone Party candidate for president. We got it from a inside source that Tosca became so upset that she gave up blogging, starting eating catnip, stopped getting groomed and joined a holistic commune of Maine Coon Cats in the Adirondack Mountains. After coughing up a titanic hairball, she came to her senses and completed the twelve step catnip detox program. Hopefully she has recovered and will start blogging again. Please give her an encouraging bark or two.

St. Pup-Tricks Day

Happy St. Pup-Tricks Day. We hope everyone had a pawsome Day. We saw a lot of dogs celebrating this extra tricky Tuesday. The Key West Collies wore a Green Hat, ate some extra dog treats and a had little extra time at Angel Paws, sigh.

Think big treats, mmmm

From what we can gather St. Pup-Tricks was a giant beer drinking GREEN DOG that lived in Ireland. He was a bigger than four school buses. When ever he had to relief himself the rivers would turn green. In memory of St. Pup-Tricks people dye the rivers green in cities like Chicago.
At least that is the best explanation we ever heard.

Sweetz

Hello Essex & Deacon,

My name is Sweetz and I knew Great (Great) Uncle Bobby when we were just pupsters. We are cousins, just like you are with Clyde in Cincinnati. Way back then I had a shiny black coat, now it is speckled with lots of grey. I was quite rambunctious back then and survived being hit by a car. Those things hurt when they hit you. As for the grey fur, I was thinking of using Old Dogs Grecian Formula but decided to be proud of my grey.

I used to live in Louisiana but after my pack evacuated for Herricane Katrina, we decided to move to Portsmouth, Virginia. I am 14 years old now and have slowed down quite a bit. I do love being with my family and love to walk on the beach.

Deacon you sure look a lot like Bobby. Do you like hunting things like he did?

Happy Woofing to You,

Sweetz

Sweetz,

It is good to hear from you. Any cousin of Bobby is our friend. Things are going slow right now. Dad is trying to fix stuff around the house and is he slow about getting things done. Essex’s paw is healing and she is going to get her teeth cleaned this week. That way she will have shiny teeth.

A Furever Family

Dear Essex & Deacon,

Thanks for talking to me and keeping my spirits up. I refused to be discouraged and decided follow Deacon’s advice and give another family a try. My family lives on Florida’s west coast to just to the east of Ft. Myers and I adopted them about three weeks ago. I feel grrrrreat about living with them and they are happy with me. I don’t know if I will ever be able to e-bark or write you, but I want to thank both of you for keeping your paws crossed for me.

Dear Number # 1 cousin,

Thanks for the update. We are dancing and celebrating that you have found your furever home. The pictures you gave to us of your growing up brought us a lot of joy. We decided we just had to make a special collies blessing picture just for you. We included puppy pictures of both of us in lower two corners. If you can stay in touch that would be pawsome, but we understand if can’t. You have a family to take care of, while we only have Dog Dad.

Dog Speed.

Essex Update

Well cyber-paw pals, Essex front paw continues to improve. Friday (Alamo Day) was her annual vet visit and she passed with flying colors. Dad was instructed to keep an eye on the paw, but it continues to improve. Unfortunately, Essex didn't get to go to Angel Paws after getting her shots. Next up is Essex's first teeth cleaning on 18 March.

Deacon continues to be happy and be a friend to everyone. Below Deacon is just making sure Dad is awake and happy. We enjoy the shift in time, though we are not sure about Dog Dad. THe time shift means more daylight after Dad gets home.

Paw Update

Essex chilling out

Well, cyber-paw pals Dad has let Essex back on fence patrol and going to Angel Paws. The back paw pad has healed real nice. On the front paw, the toe is still a bit swollen but is no longer red. Dad was happy with that. She still has to wear a sock at times though.

Tomorrow I goes to the vet for her annual visit. I like our vet and he likes both of us. We'll give a report Saturday on the results of my visit.

Like most of you we were very sad to hear about Bogart's Dad, Klaus crossing the rainbow bridge. We are hoping that the Mom of Sunny and Scooter finds inner strength. Reading about their Grand Maw, makes us sure she needs some strength from the pack. Well, we have to go.
