Kennel Cough

Norm started coughing Tuesday after coming back from Angel Paws.  Dad had a hard time sleeping because he would start coughing every hour to hour and a half.  So Dad took vacation and set up a veterinarian appointment.  First he tried our regular doctor, the only due surgeries on Wednesday.  Then he tried the vet on Big Coppit.  They weren't taking new patients but Dad could come to the emergency clinic when it opened at 5:30 PM.  Dad called the veterinarian at Marathon and they could see Norm at 2:30 PM.  We made the drive up.  I was nervous when we got there.  Probably memories of Sherman crossing the Rainbow Bridge.  Dad did the best to comfort us.  Sitting on the floor, talking to us.

Marathon Veterinary Hospital
When the Doc came into to see us, Norm laid down and didn't want the Doc to use her stethoscope.  Dad helped get Norm up.  After the Doc left he got up.  Dad kept telling him that he was a Silly Boy.  A many many moons ago before Deacon came to live with Essex, Essex caught kennel cough when Dad went to Ohio.  Norm's coughing reminded Dad of that time long ago.  He was right.

Dad both got medicine.  Dad figuring one could pass it to the other.  Norm got pills to settle his cough too.  Dad had a restful night sleep last night.  He found out today, that Kennel Cough is making its rounds in Key West.  He found out that five other Key West dogs have Kennel Cough.  Our good pals Kai, Max and Chachi were among them.  From what Dad told us, it will be at least two weeks before we can visit our beloved Angel Paws.

What a wonderful dog Dad to take such good care of you. Glad you got your meds and Dog Dad got to sleep. Hope all of you are feeling better soon. That is scary about the outbreaks.
