Last Post of 2018

Things have been busy.  Our visitors Miles and Copper went back to their homes yesterday.  They were excited and happy to be home.  You can't blame a pup to be happy when they are reunited with their hoomans.

First Brave Star, AKA Buddy, e-barked us.  He has become the breaker upper of cat fights.  His cat siblings have been getting into squabbles.  If Buddy hears them he gets in between them and breaks it up.  When it comes to cats, we love chasing them.

We heard from Brave Star's sister Alyx.  She is doing fine up in Jacksonville, Florida.  She was checking up on us, which made us smile.  Alyx came back to Holmhaven at ten months old and found her furever family.  Her story reminded Dad of Deacon, so it brings a warm smile to his heart.  Alyx loves her family and that smile is proof.

Essex-mas 2018

Merry Essex-mas to cyberpaw land.  Things have been busy around here.  Dad is trying to clean around the house, Miles and Copper are staying with us, Dad did his backing and visiting.

On Friday 14 December Dad had a blast from the past visit Key West.  Hooter's Mom came to visit Angel Paws with a black lab mix named Rosco P.  Dad and her talked for quite awhile.  Hooter passed away about a year ago and her husband about six months back.  Rosco P. is taking care of her, and there is talk of moving to Alaska.  The visit brought back many memories of Essex and Deacon.  Dad was smiling for several days afterwards.  He thought of young Hooter and Essex playing.  The pups along the fence line and the dirt path that Essex made from fence patrol.

Chloe the Brittany Spaniel visited fur a couple weeks.  Dad found out that Bodie, the Brittany Spaniel crossed the bridge about a year ago.  It was good seeing their hooman, who didn't visit one year because of the screw worms and the next year because of herricane Irma.

We will post more in the next couple of days.  Posting is slow because Dad messed up the camera.

A Sad November

It has been a sad November and we've been intending to post for quite some time.  Life somehow keeps getting in the way though.

First our pal Coral moved away on 7 November.  She was adopted by her hoomans brudder.  The family moved to Hawaii very quickly.  They didn't have time to get Corals paperwork together.  We don't have any good pawtographs of Coral.  Dad's camera broke and we need a new one to record our adventures.
Kyra
Dad found out yesterday that our pal Kyra crossed the Rainbow Bridge shortly after Coral moved away.  Dad saw her hooman and was wondering why he hadn't seen the two of them for awhile.  Her crossing reminded Dad of his beloved Deacon.  Both Kyra and Deacon crossed at a young age.  He remembers how hard that was on him.  He was told heat stroke.  Dad could see that because Kyra could be obsessed like Great Auntie Essex.  Both were pups that required the hoomans to set the limits because the pups would ignore the need to slow down.  We remember meeting Kyra right after we came back after Herricane Irma.  Kyra will be missed by all of the Angel Paws Park regulars.

Collieween 2018

Collieween is Dog Dad's favorite day in Key West.  A lot of the neighbors are outside and the little hoomans and there pawrents are in the streets.  Dad bought 16 bags of candy this year.  He got outside of the house at 6:15 and by 8:15 all the candy was gone.  Dad figures he had at least 240 visitors.
We Love This Pawtograph
We get stuck in the back bedroom because we loose our minds.  Dad is sure we would scare all the little hoomans with all our barking.  While we don't like being in the room, we like having a happy Dog Dad.

Tomorrow things will be back to normal.  Dog Park and staying by Dad's side when he is home.  In the next two months Dad will be taking three weeks of vacation.  Time to chill with his best pals (us of course).  Straighten out the house.

We will hopefully have some visitors too.  Gracie, Loki and their Dog Mom will hopefully be stopping by to recoup.  Their home had bad roof damaged from Herricane Michael.  Their Mom is trying to salvage some of their things and work with the insurance company.  When things are more settled they promised to stop by and visit.  Their Mom will need the decompression time.  Dad is calm and is a good listener.

We will try to post more the coming months.  Dad's old camera is really temperamental and he intends to buy a new one.  Having new pawtagraphs of us to share should get him in the mood.

13 October 2018 - Remembering

Dad is thinking of Essex today.  It would have been Barkday number 15 for her.  He looks at us this morning and gave us a big hug.

Dad remembers her so well because they went through so much together.  We know that we both have a place in Dad's heart too.  He believes Essex and Deacon both watch over our pack.

Two Sighs Of Relief. One To Go.

Dad has three chums that live in the Panhandle of Florida.  He has heard from two of them, and is waiting to hear from the third.

His first pal worked with him before Dad had collies.  He replied back to Dad that his family had moved to England back in June.  Dad forgot, but was very happy, when he read that email.

The second one is the Mom of Gracie and Loki.  When Dad got back from Angel Paws, the light was blinking on the answering machine.  It was their Mom.  Her Pack is okay, but their home isn't.  During the storm a tree fell and they had to escape to their neighbors house.  The important thing is that every paw is okay.  Their Mom knew Essex and Deacon, and met me when I was only a pup.  She hasn't met Gemini yet though.

Dad is still waiting to hear from Angel Dog Sasha's mom.  Sasha's Mom knew Essex and Deacon very well.  Dad knows it will take awhile before power and phone will come back on line.  A big Herricane like Michael can really mess things up.

Having all three packs safe would put Dad in a good mood.  It might even result in us getting some extra treats.

Sprained Paw

Dad has been trying to catch up with the house most of this month.  Sherman sprained his paw two weeks ago.  When he didn't heal up after a week, we saw the vet on Tuesday, 24 September.  He confirmed a sprained paw and we got some anti-inflammatory medication.   The good part about that was he had to have food, so more treats fur us.

The bad part is no Angel Paws Dog Park and our walks are cut in half.  Sherman is ruining Gemini's social life.  The two have been playing with each other.  Dad is amazed that we get along so very well with each other.  Gemini has her annual vet visit on 6 October.

We will try to post tomorrow.

Remembering Irma

Cyber-paw pals,

The folks in the path of Herricane Florence are in our thoughts and prayers.  We hope are prayers keep them safe.

A year ago today around 9 AM Herricane Irma struck Key West.  We were sure that we would never see our home again.  A lot of hooomans and animals prayed for us and it worked.

We were lucky that we were able to stay with our pal Gandalf's family.  We are forever indebted to their kindness.  We were grateful for our family and pals like Skye.  They helped keep us sane.

Gemini's Third Bark-Aversary

When Dad woke up today, he gave Gemini a big hug and wished her a Happy Bark-Aversary.  When Dad came back from work, we went to Angel Paws.  This was much better than last years Bark-Aversary as we have no Herricane coming our way.  We both remember Dad driving Gemini to Key West.  She was definitely smitten with her Sherman.  We intended to see JH, but it started to rain really hard, so we drove back home.  Funny thing  was the ride back to Key West was all gray skies but no rain.  We talked about Gemini joining our pack this morning and evening.

Our Paw Pals Luke the Labrador Retriever and Oakley the Australian Shepherd left Key West in late August.  We will both be miss them, but pups are always coming and going.  We did meet Murphy a Golden Retriever pup.  Gemini took a shine to him right away.

Cousin Clyde Crosses The Rainbow Bridge

Dad sister called from Cincinnati today.  Cousin Clyde crossed the bridge at the old age of fifteen and half years old.  Great Auntie Essex told Sherman stories of her and Deacon playing with Clyde.  I played some with him, but Clyde didn't want to play to much.  Clyde was thirteen years old when Gemini met him.

Dad thinks of Essex and Clyde playing the first time they met each other.  Essex and Deacon would get excited as the Collie Mobile got close to Clyde's home.  They knew they were nearing their friends home.  They loved playing with Clyde.  When Deacon visited, the two of them became quick buddies.  Dad remembers when Deacon first met Clyde.  Clyde and Deacon chased each other around Clyde's house most of the night.  There was the sound of thundering of paws.  None of the hoomans were to happy as they didn't sleep very much.  The hoomans laugh about it now.

Clyde was a senior citizen dog by the time Sherman and Gemini met him.  He didn't want to chase and play with them, so there are no pawtographs of Clyde with them.  We liked Clyde, but knew he didn't want to play.

Clyde's hoomans will miss him and when we go to Cincinatti we will remember him.  Clyde was very loved by his family.  Dad thinks of so many visits, walks in Cincinnati, pups that got along very well with each other.  So many memories.  We are sure that Clyde, Deacon and Essex are playing with each other.  Romping and chasing. Every once in awhile looking for their hoomans.

Sherman's Seven Year Bark-Aversary

Dad and I looked at each other this morning.  As we were on our walk he told me today was my Gotcha Day.  Yep, seven years ago Dad and Grrreat Auntie Essex drove up to Holmhaven to bring me to Key West.  I got lots of hugs from Dad..  Gemini and I got extra dog treats today.  We later went to Angel Paws and a lot of our pals were there.
Sherman At Angel Paws
It has been a fun day and I got to give Dad a ton of face licks.

Dad told me it seems so long ago but then again like it was just yesterday.  We have had a adventures, good times, sad time, but most importantly we have had each other.  Below are some pictures of me as a puppy.

5 July 1947

We hear a creaking sound.  Sherman's tail starts wagging.  We wander over to a big door and see Dad playing with some dials.  I nudge Sherman and ask him what is going on.  Sherman barks out "That is the WABAC machine Gemini!"
Sherman & Mr. Peabody
Sherman quickly explains about how Dad would take the collies back in time using the WABAC machine. I listen intensely as Sherman tells me about previous WABAC machine adventures.  Dad turns the dials to 5 July 1947, location Chicago.

The machine makes some noises and then we are sitting on the roof of Comiskey Park in Chicago.  It is the top of the seventh inning the Indians are behind 5-1.  Joe Gordon walks.  Ken Keltner walks too.  Hank Edwards grounds shortstop to 2nd baseman, runners on first and third. Then comes up an African American man, Larry Doby.  Larry Doby strikes out. Cleveland scores two runs that inning..  When the game ends the Indians loose 6-5.
Larry Doby
We look at Dad quizzically.  He tells us we saw the color barrier being broken in the American League.  Dad told us that  Larry Doby was a great hall of fame player, a class act.  Larry Doby helped bring the Indians there last World Series Championship in 1948.  We smile and wag our tails.  We get back in the WABAC and come home.  Hopefully there will be some more WABAC adventures.

One More Day - Bo and Howser

The one sad thing about living here is that friends come and go.  We will hopefully see our chums Bo and Howser one more time, before they leave Key West.  Both are due to leave before the 4th of July.  Dad has enjoyed talking to their pawrents and we have enjoyed playing dog games with them.
Bo and Howser take it easy, while Coral watches
Friday we had fourteen dogs at the park at one time.  Today we had six.  Gemini did a little playing but mostly we all just laid around.  it was hot outside.  We can't wait until winter returns.  Below are some pictures from Angel Paws.

Gemini Is Three

Bowsers, folks Gemini is three years old.  It seems just the other day she came to Key West, but then it seems like furever too.  When Dad woke up he sang "Happy Barkday" to Gemini.  We then went for a walk.  When Dad left for work we got an extra treat and some roast beef too.

Cheddar Collies
When he got home, we got two treats then the oven heated up.  He made cheddar collies.  Mmmmm.  Next it was off to Angel Paws.  When we got there Houser and Payton greeted us.  Later Sol and Luna made it there, as well as some pups that we have seen for only the second time.  Four Boston Terriers and two corgis.  We shared our cheddar collies and saved some fur our pals that were not at the park.

We got back home had another cheddar collie with our supper.  Dad kissed both of us on the forward as he got ready fur bed.  It has been a fun day.

Pineapple - June 2018

The collies hope everypaw  had a pawsome pawthers day.  We spent a lot of time with Dad.  We let him take for a walk and go to Angel Paws.

In the yard we had this big yellow-orange colored fruit.  We helped Dad cut the plant out of the flower pot.  A nice pineapple plant.  Dad loves them, but the fruit comes out about every 18 months or so.  Sherman decided to pose with the pineapple.  Gemini wandered off, since no treats were involved.

Sherman Is Seven

Sherman is seven years old.  Dad can hardly believe that it has been that long.  Dad gave Sherman and big hug and sand Happy Barkday to him.  We got a big bone that one of his friend Tom gave him, a pig ear and frosty paws today.  We haven't eaten much of our meal.
