30 December 2021

We have been chilling out with Dad this week.  He is on a staycation, so he is with us all day.  Which is pawsome.  There has been a lot of time visiting Angel Paws.  A man with a Japanese Spitz is visiting Key West, the first time they were in the park Gemini stopped by to say hello.  The man looked familiar and then he remembered that he was the one that had stopped his truck when Gemini escaped out of her collar and almost got hit on the road by Angel Paws way back in February of 2016.  Gemini remembered him and wanted to say thank you.

Copper is visiting us.  He won't come out of his kennel when Dad around.  Like the last time Copper visited, Dad puts him out in his crate while closing off the back patio.  Copper still thinks Dad is the God of Thunder from when he knocked over a bunch of cookie tins.  Neither of us can convince him that Dad is a pawtastic hooman.  Dad prefers not to watch Copper because of this, but Copper's humans couldn't find anyone else.

Merry Essexmas 2021

We hope everypaw is having a pawtastic Essexmas.  We are enjoying have Dad home with us and being lazy around the house.  The tree was set up with the Essexmas Ornament at the very top.
The Essexmas Ornament On The Tree Top
When Dad woke up this morning, he hugged us, wished us a Merry Essexmas and off for a walk we went.  During the walk Dad told us about Essexmas past, and of Essex, Deacon and Sherman.  We stopped Dad to sniff the grass at times.  We got an extra treat when we got home.

We'll post more later this week.

Samson And Orion Are Big Dogs

Last week we met two BIG DOGS. We have been meaning to write about these two Great Danes we met on 16 December. Their names are Samson and Orion.  They were already inside Angel Paws when we got there.  Neither of us were to sure of these towering dogs.

Both of us were intimidated by their size.  It took a little while before we felt comfortable around them.  Norm would walk quickly away.  Gem put her front paws on the bench, then on Dad's lap.  Dad just chuckled and told me everything was okay.

While we didn't play with the big dogs, we got used to them being around.

Chuchi

Weather is cooling down in the Keys, for which we are thankful.  Dad has been home with us for the last six days, which we enjoyed.  Norm got to mess with his feet while he tried to sleep.  I just enjoyed hearing Dad grumble at Norm.

Chuchi

We spent a fair amount of time at Angel Paws the last couple days.  One of the pups that frequents Angel Paws is Chuchi.  Chuchi is an albino pup that is part Catahoula.  She is deaf, but loves playing with the other pups.

Happy Thanksgiving - 2021

Happy Thanksgiving every paw.  We received this pawtograph from our Angel Paws pal Kai and had to share.  Kai reminds Dad of Essex because he loves fence patrol.

We have been doing well.  Lots of time at Angel Paws and Dad has taken some vacation, so he has been spending time with us.  Outside of the Dog Park, Dad doesn't go anywhere much.  He is still pretty vigilant during this time of pandemic.

Gemini & Normandy Playing At Angel Paws
We received sad news that our pal Sir Oliver crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 19 November.  Sir Oliver and Sherman were only two months apart in age.  Neither of us met Sir Oliver, but Uncle Sherman told Gemini about the time he visited him and Essex.  As you can see below Sherman and Sir Oliver had a lot of fun.

We hope every paw had an awesome day.  We know that we enjoyed ourselves.

Happy Collieween - 2021

Happy Collieween everypaw.  Below is a pawtograph of our pal Enu, who lives in the Florida Panhandle.  He got dressed in this Southern Belle costume.  He sure would fit right in Key West wearing that costume.

Enu - A Southern Belle

We are glad Dad doesn't dress us up like that.  Nothing much going on here.  We will get back to you in November.

Rainbow - Moon

It rained yesterday before we got to Angel Paws.  It had stopped by the time we got to Angel Paws.  Dad noted a double rainbow.  He has seen about a dozen of those in Key West.  The double rainbow disappeared and you only saw a single rainbow.  That is when he noticed something, he doesn't ever remember seeing before a Rainbow-Moon.  Dad just had to take a pawtograph.

As for the rest of the time at Angel Paws, we enjoyed playing with our pals.

13 October 2021

Dad was in a good but wistful mood this morning.  We knew he was thinking of Essex because she was born 18 years ago today.  Dad normally smiles when he thinks about her.  Today was no exception.  He talked a little about Essex while we were walking.  How she would lag behind, until we were on the way back home.  Then she would be out in front, leading the way to her home.
Essex - January 2008
Dad came home early today. The spirit of Essex must of been at work because the internet went down at work.  Since Dad and his friends couldn't do anything, they were let off early.  We were happy to have extra time with our favorite pawson.
Essex Talking to a Little Birdie
We hope they everyone had a pawsome day.  That they remembered the their paw pals past and made memories with paw pals present.  When Dad goes to bed tonight, he'll give us a big hug and we'll lick his face.  We'll tell the spirits of Essex, Deacon and Sherman not to worry.  That we will protect Dad while he sleeps tonight.

A Lazy Monday

Cyber paw pals, it has been a lazy Monday.  Dad is off for the Holiday and we have been keeping him company.  We have all been watching the weather in the tropics.  We are very happy not to have to ask Jake the Angel Weather Dog about tropical weather systems.  We are praying that there is nothing to worry about the rest of 2021.

Dad was going to do some yard work, but we have had a couple showers pass through.  They were ten minute down pours, so nothing to get excited about.  Just enough to keep Dad from messing with things outside.  The two of us bothered him enough for let open the door and let us enjoy the rain.  He just shook his head and said silly pups.

Angel Paws has been slow the past week.  A lot of times there has only been one or two pups.  A few times it was just us.  We wonder if everypaw has went on vacation.

30 September 2021

Well, cyber paw pals, September is coming to an end.  It has been a long month.  Dad has been watching the tropics.  There has been plenty of rain and the grass keeps growing.  We have spent a lot of time at Angel Paws.  It is the entire packs favorite place.  Below is pawtograph of the two of us taking it easy on Sunday.  We were the only ones at the park.

If you have rain, you will have rainbows.  Dad tells stories of pots of gold and we keep telling it is pots of dog biscuits.  Who do you think is right?

Gemini's Sixth Bark-Aversary

Bowsers, it is hard to believe that I have been six years with Dad.  Dad loves me and I love him.  Norm and I typically sleep in the room with Dad.
New Toys From Our Vet
It was a busy morning because we had our annual check up with Dr. McGuire.  Doc said we were in pawsome shape.  We got our shots.  No vets today because of the shots.  Though we did get these new kong toys.  Norm liked to pick them up and drop them on the floor.  Which definitely made Dad laugh.
After our visit, Dad and I talked about when I came to live with him.  Norm listened us talk about me playing with Sherman.  Because of our visit, we didn't get to go to Angel Paws.  We plan to spend some extra time there tomorrow though.  Instead it was off for our walk.  One of the hoomans, that talked to us said that Norm sure has grown.

Well it is time for us to go.  Hope all of you are doing well.

A Gift From McGee

Well, cyber paw pals our chum McGee sent Dad a book to read to both of us.  The book is "Lad of Sunnybank" written by Tehune,  "Lad of Sunnybank" arrived on 16 August addressed to the both of us.  Gemini danced as she could smell her good friend McGee on both the package and book.  Normandy has never met McGee, but was happy to see Gemini being so happy.

McGee

There has been quite a few pups at Angel Paws.  Though our good pal Chachi has left the area.  The bane of being around military pals, people transfer every three years or so.  Atlas the five month old husky pup is growing.  He will be a big pup.  He is very friendly and is very mellow.  Max the German Shepherd likes bossing the other pups around.  For some reason he has never bothered the collies.  Fortunately he likes chasing his ball more than anything else.

Max
Both Elsa and Ida stayed far away from us.  We all let out a sigh and are eager for herricane season to end.

29 August 2021 - All's Well

Bowsers, we've been meaning to post, but kept putting it off.

Both Fred and Ida stayed far away from us.  A little rain, but nothing to worry about here.  We are praying for the people in Louisiana.

Grass has been growing quickly and there are plenty of pals at Angel Paws.  Bently and Zeus have a new brother.  A husky puppy named Atlas.   Atlas is going to be a big husky.  Kai the Aussie loves to do fence patrol and Chachi loves to rough house.  Chachi will be leaving Key West soon.
Atlas, Kai and Chachi
Kayla, the Belgian Malinois loves to rough house with Norm.  Dad takes off Norm's collar when Kayla arrives.  She likes to grab it and Dad can see Norm getting frustrated.

July 2021 - Two Bridge Crossings

We found out a little over a week ago about some Rainbow Bridge Crossings.

On 10 July, Mick crossed the Rainbow Bridge up in Michigan.  Mick was the smallest pup born at the Meadows, but grew up to become the biggest one ever.  Mick weighed in at an outstanding 115 lbs, which is bigger than any of the Key West Collies.  Mick had a big heart to match. There are a lot of stories and memories of Mick and his pack at https://colliesofthemeadow.wordpress.com/.  The collies used to post all the time, but their posts have become more infrequent.  We miss their stories of that large pack.

Mick and his Hooman

The Dad's sister in Lost Wages pup, Luna, crossed Rainbow Bridge on 11 July.  Luna's pawrents miss her a lot.  Pups tend to become part of the fabric of a family's life.  \

Normandy's First Bark-Aversary

When Dad woke up this morning he gave me a big hug and wished me a Happy Bark-Aversary before our walk.  Then an extra treat before he left for work.  We just got back from Angel Paws.  There were about seven other pups there, so I had a fun time.

I Can't Fit Under The Bed Anymore
It is hard to believe that I've spent one year with Auntie Gemini and Dog Dad.  It feels like furever, but then again like I just left Holmhaven.  We have had a lot of fun.  I still like to lick the bottoms of Dad's feet.  I can't fit under the bed any more though.  I love my pack.  Dad and Gem definitely love me too.  I hope everyone else had a grrrrreat Day.

Elsa Has Passed

Some wind and some rain is what we remember about Tropical Storm Elsa.  There was a huge sigh of relief from our entire pack.  We figured we would get a lot more rain, Elsa didn't have near the rain that Sally had last year and the wind wasn't to bad either.
Normandy & Gemini Explore The Yard After Elsa Passes
Resting During Elsa
There was some palm fronds to pick up and other things to pick up in the yard.  The power went out twice, once about 2 AM than another time around 9 AM.  The first was for maybe a half hour, the second for about an hour and a half.  Gemini did jumped into bed with Dad around 6 AM.  Dad just put his arm around her.  She decided to jump out of the bed after about a half hour.

We hope Elsa is kind to everyone else.

Watching Elsa

We are watching Elsa with Dad. We’ve been barking with Jake the Angel Weather dog. He said it looks like bad weather late Sunday and Monday. Norm barked this is storm number three, so he’ll be strong. Besides he has auntie Gem and Dog Dad by his side. Dad has very little to do in order to tighten the house up. Put some trash cans up and close two hurricane shutters up. That will get done Sunday.

All has been going well at Angel Paws. Norm plays with the other pups, while Gem barks at everypaw playing. We’ll be at Angel Paws this evening and will try to be there Sunday too.

Gemini Turns Six

I woke up this morning with Dad and Norm singing happy barkday to me.  I've gotten used to Dad's quirks and was happy Norm joined in.  Dad kissed me on the nose then we were off for a walk.  During the walk a light rain got all us wet.  BOL.  When we got back there were extra collie treats.

Gemini The Barkday Girl

The rest of the day there were threats of rain, but nothing really came down.  We went to Angel Paws and when we got back, Dad gave us a frosty paw to eat.  Yum.  Earlier this week we watched a cloud that looked like a dog cross the sky.  We both smiled at Dad and enjoyed the park.

The big news by us has the building collapse that happened near Miami.  Our prayers go out those involved in the tragic event.

Happy Pawther's Day - 2021

We greeted Dad early this morning.  Had to get him up and about fur pawthers Day.  We had him open our present that his sister Marge bought fur us.  Dad gave us both a big hug and called his sister to thank her.  We had to make sure our names were on it, so hoomans would know he was our Dad!!

Later we went to Angel Paws and had a good time.  Things have been pretty quiet around here.
