Angel Paws 2014

Other pups at Angel Paws have been hit and miss so far this year.  Several times a week my good pal Karma shows up.  When he is around, I run, wrestle and raise havoc.  We have a lot of fun.  Karma has been my best pal since Leo left.

The only regulars are myself, Red and CC.  Red you know from years past.  Red knew both Great Auntie Essex and Uncle Deacon.  This year has been different then before.  This year Red's Dog Mom and cousin CC accompanied him.  CC is a Chocolate Labrador Retriever that is both blind and slightly crippled.  Surprisingly he gets around fine inside Angel Paws.

Right now there are either a lot of dogs or just a few at the park.  Dad misses the days when there we a number of regulars.  People tend stay for a couple years and then get transferred to someplace else.

Sherman Helps Dad Do A Good Deed

Last Saturday Dad had a hard time sleeping.  He woke up around 2:30 AM and started to do some things around the house.  He wandered to the living room looked out the window, his eyes saw a dog across the street.  As he watched the dog turn the corner, his mind started to wake up.  He wondered if it was Pedro, the black dog next door.  He opened the window and whistled my song.  The pup came back around the corner.  It must be Pedro, who is a bit of an escape artist.  Now Dad was in his underwear, so he wasn't about to go outside.  He got on his gym shorts, went outside and whistled my song some more.  No Pedro.

Next he decided to let me outside.  I barked a little and Dad whistled.  A few minutes later Pedro turns the corner.  Pedro follows Dad as he walks over to his house.  His Mom comes outside as they near the gate.  She tells Dad how happy she was that Dad saw Pedro and got him back home.

Me and Dad went back inside happy and we went back to sleep happy we did our good deed for the day.

Our Cyber Paw-Pal Jasmine Crosses the Bridge

We received sad news Sunday.  Our pal Skye had one of her pack cross the rainbow bridge around noon yesterday. Jasmine crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday.  Jasmine was loved and lived a long happy life with her pack.  Jasmine is now romping around with Dave across the bridge.  Dave crossed the bridge way back on 30 October 2012.

Cover Shot

I've been taking it easy this January.  As you can tell I am enjoying my couch and resting my weary head at times.  Me and Dog Dad enjoy going to the dog park.  I especially enjoy it when some of my pals show up so we can wrestle and chase around.

New Years Eve Dad was chuckling at me.  When fire works went off, I went by Dog Dad and got under the desk, while he was in the DWB Chat Room typing my messages to my cyber-paw pals..

Earth Quake

Yesterday, I asked Dad if he felt the earth move.  Dad looked at me like I was nuts and checked my mouth to see if I was foamy.  Nope, no foam.  He figured he just had a nutty collie.

Later he checked cyber-paw space and sure enough the National Weather Service and the Coast Guard confirmed there was a 5.0 earthquake over 100 miles southeast of Key West at 3:58 PM. 

There was no damage in Key West.  I am happy that Dad doesn't think I'm crazy.  Maybe now he will believe me when I tell him I need more treats.

Collie Relatives Say Arrooo

One of the things about blogging is that Holmhaven Collie relatives contact us sometimes.

First there is Cousin Shiloh and my brudder Dakota.  They are busy taking care of their young hooman boy and playing.  They have been so busy that they have not posted in quite some time.  I can understand that because I would be swamped if I had a young hooman to watch.

Second there is Cousin Vixen.  She is doing well in St. Augustine.  She is watching over her two hoomans.  She sent me and Dog Dad an Essexmas card.  Essex had told me that her hoomans are really pawsome people.

The last relative, Brave Star is a longer story.  Back on 9 May a collie named Sparky crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  Sparky had a long happy life and almost made it to 13 years old.  When he crossed he left behind his hooman, Tim, and the two cats (Greta Garbo and Bart Simpson).  All three of them were very lost without a collie to look after them.  Before you ask, Tim is not Lassie’s Timmy and I don’t think he ever fell in the well.  They searched cyber-paw space for a collie puppy.

Well, the Great Dane guided them to our blog.  On 9 June the three wished me a Happy Barkday via this blog.  Then they e-barked us on 15 June that they had decided that a Holmhaven sable boy collie puppy was in their future.  The e-bark stated that this blog influenced their choice of Holmahaven.  Essex and I were stuned.  Tim contacted Lil and on 10 July a litter was whelped.  There were three boys but two already had a new home lined up.  Unfortunately, the third little boy crossed the Rainbow Bridge less than two weeks after birth. 

Tim and the cats were greatly saddened but were determined that a Holmahven Collie boy would adopt them.  Since they live close to Holmhaven, Tim decided to help Lil with our relatives.  He has been doing obedience training with them and has learned a lot from Lil.

After several dog moons a litter was whelped on 26 December.  There were three sable boys in that nine pup litter.  I tell you cyber paw pals, Tim was more excited than Great Auntie Essex was chasing an evil golf cart.  When Brave Star comes to live with them, it will be around nine months since Sparky crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  We know Brave Star is going to a pawsome home.  Which one is Brave Star in the pawtograph, I haven't a clue.

There was a little tri-color girl whelped, but unfortunately she had decided to live in Texas.  Dog Dad and I will be waiting for a little tri-color girl that wants to come live with us.  The Great Dane willing that should be this summer.  It will be nice to have someone that speaks fluent collie and who I can teach the way of the collie.

2013 in Review

I wish all our cyber-paw pals a Barky New Year and hope every paw has good luck in 2014, "The Year of the Horse."  2013 had some good things for us but the bridge crossing of Great Auntie Essex in November will make this a sad year for me and Dog Dad.  I look forward to new adventures and await the arrival of a litter of tri-color Holmhaven puppies sometime this summer.  In the meanwhile I will continue to go to Angel Paws and do my best to keep Dog Dad happy. .

12 January – We read a post about a missing collie named Dixie and joined the Collies of the Meadow in barking the word in hope Dixie would join her family.  Unfortunately, Dixie is still missing and we hope she comes home this year.

18 January – Essex and I meet a Sir Oliver, a sable merle collie at Angel Paws Dog Park.  We are friends via cyber-paw space and from meeting them at the Dog Park.

30 January – A good news story out of Texas.  A lost Chihuahua is reunited with it’s owner after almost seven years. 

06 February – We receive news that a Holmhaven collie named Vixen is living in St. Augustine with Deacon’s first pawrents.

25 May – X-Rays reveal Essex has bone spurs.

25 September – We have new grass in the front yard.

01 October – The US Government shuts down.  Federal workers are furloughed.  

02 October – The big coconut tree by our house disappears.

13 October – Essex turns 10.

08 November – Typhoon Haiyan hits the Philippines. Over 7500 people are either missing or dead.

15 November – Essex crosses the rainbow bridge.  We miss her but she will always be in our hearts.

16 November – The receive our copy of "The Lookout" and we see our article about the All Collie Drill Team.  We wait till Thanksgiving to post.  

20 November – A good news story.  A sheltie named Maggie is found in the rubble of her house two days after a tornado devastates her home in Washington, Illinois.

08 December – Our deck in the back yard is refurbished.

31 December – Our sheltie cyber-paw pals Reilly, Denny and their Mom star on their local TV news.

There was a lot that happened in 2013.  Great Auntie Essex's crossing of the bridge is the one that impacted us most.  I hope that 2014 has far more good things than bad.
